Summary: | A FOIA request from the American Civil Liberties Union and the Columbia Law School's Human Rights Clinic elicited documents revealing "diplomatic assurances," secret promises from other countries that they would not torture detainees sent from the U.S. Three foreign nationals (from India, Mexico, and Romania) were extradited based on such assurances.
