Summary:

A FOIA request for a USAF report revealed that the Air Force recommends "substantial improvements in physical security measures and the personnel who guard [several European sites where American nuclear weapons are stored]." The report, concluded in February 2008, was conducted in response to the discovery that a B-52 bomber had flown from North Dakota to Louisiana carrying six nuclear-armed missiles without the knowledge of flight or ground crews.

Notes:

Hans M. Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, filed a FOIA request for, and has now received, a copy of the final report of the Air Force Blue Ribbon Review of Nuclear Weapons Policies and Procedures. The report is available at: http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/usa/doctrine/usaf/BRR-2008.pdf
